He was sent not to die but to share the life and love that is the very essence of the Holy One-in-Three. – Sister Barbara Reid, OP
I read this recently, and it has stuck with me for a couple of reasons.
First, Abbot Jerome Kodell, OSB invited us to consider something similar during our summer retreat. He said we can over-focus on the cross and the suffering and pain Jesus went through. That yes, Jesus’ pain is part of the story, but only part.
Second, my father and I had a similar conversation a few weeks ago. We agreed that Jesus knew his message and behavior would have a violent end, but he persevered for love. He persevered for life.
God sent his only Son to show us how to live, love and share the way of life that God asks of us. When we follow Jesus’ teachings, we create heaven on earth.
We all are sent not to die but to live, love and share. How are you choosing to respond to God’s call?
