“Anyone who gives you a cup of water to drink because you belong to Christ, amen, I say to you, will surely not lose their reward.” (Mark 9:41)
Recently this verse presented a new thought to me. Jesus does not say “anyone to whom you give a cup of water,” but “who gives you a cup of water.” It seems that Jesus is emphasizing the graciousness with which we receive a kindness, a gift, a compliment, or an encouraging word. I wonder if our gratefulness for such a gift is a measure of our openness to receive graciously the gift of God’s love?
What do you think? And, what will you do with it?
