There was a tiny whispering sound … (1 Kings 19:12)
Where do we find Peace?
For me, it comes in the gentle breeze as I walk the paths around the monastery.
It comes in the peaceful deer slowly grazing across the open space by our lake … in the calm waters reflecting the beauty of God’s presence … in the abundant green leaves that speak of resurrection.
Most of all, I experience anew the peace of Christ that surpasses understanding in the beautiful women and men who come to Benet House to make a retreat.
Yesterday, I met Ann, who has come yearly for retreat. She gave me a hug and said, “I walk in the door and I feel surrounded by God’s peace.”
Our troubled world longs for peace. We all do.
Let us seek peace, and be agents of that peace and joy in the wonder of God’s infinite love and generous bounty.
