Sitting Still with God

The word “Lent” actually literally means Springtime, the perfect season for renewal! Here’s Sister Mary’s mid-week pick-me-up for the “mini-retreat” that will refresh your soul throughout Lent. Here’s a list of all of the weeks’ posts.

“Be still and know that I am God.”  There it was this morning at Lauds: the verse we are praying in this Lenten retreat.

I was struck with the repeated verse in the psalm, “The Lord of hosts is with us.”
God is with us always. But we are more able to know it when we are still: listening, open, mindful, attuned. “Be still and know.”

In other words, “Be still” and let God enter in and sit with you, giving guidance, comfort, solace, or whatever else you need. Certainly God knows what you most need this day.

In what ways have you experienced “The Lord of hosts being with you” this week?

Have you been able to still yourself?

What have you discovered needs to be stilled within you?

Can you sit and have a cup of tea or coffee with the Lord and listen to what the Lord has to say?
