Sister Borromeo, my Dad’s aunt, worked with me on my ABCs prior to my entering first grade.
Sister was very short, making her pretty much my height, and easy for me to talk “eye-to eye” with!
She was very friendly and kind and told me stories that helped me remember the different letters.
Sister didn’t come around often … only in the summer. But I always enjoyed seeing her and listening to the stories she told.
I was fascinated by her and wondered what it would be like to live like her! And because of her kind and patient teaching, I was well-prepared when I started first grade, unlike some others kids in my class. 🙂
