“Dying daily” with the Lord has been in our lexicon and spiritual life always, and is an important theme of Lent. But, how about the corollary of “rising daily” with the Lord?
Daily rising up takes practice and a living faith. This is what we have been doing from Ash Wednesday up to now!
It means transforming our daily death-bearing situations into life-giving situations.
It means converting the daily trials, the unexpected hurts, the ongoing worries into renewed life experiences.
It means the broken promises, reversals, losses, pain and grief can all be swept up into the transforming reality of hope, joy and new life.
We have been to the desert with our Lord and now we celebrate with a new awareness what Paul describes in today’s second reading: “The Spirit who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in us and will bring our mortal bodies to new life.”
This week practice “rising up” with Jesus.
