Daring to Dream by Sr. Marilyn Hettinger

Fiat

Mary, the immaculate one.

Humble

Caring

Gentle

Chosen by God

Filled with inner strength

speaks faith filled

FIAT

Joseph,

a just and gentle man,

engaged to Mary,

found her to be with child.

Perplexed

Doubts

Questions

How can this be?

What am I to do?

What will people think?

The answer – a dream!

God’s angel speaks.

Have no fear.

Remain faithful.

Accept responsibility.

Take Mary for your wife.

Name the child

Jesus,

the one who comes to save.

With God all things are possible.

Joseph trusts the message,

accepts the challenge.

FIAT

Do I dare to dream?

Am I alert to the message;

to God’s voice?

What limits my dream;

my call to seek god;

to live life to the fullest?

Accept the miracle.

EMMANUEL

God with us!

All things are possible.

Have no fear.

FIAT

  1. This is a wonderful poem. It is difficult for us to say “let it be done” when God asks of us. Pray that we have the grace, as Mary and Joseph did, to recognize God’s will for us. And no murmuring!
