Paul tells us, “Be kind to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another as God has forgiven you in Christ.” How different that exhortation is from the adulteress’s scene in the Gospel! This past week I have been taken by the scriptures at Lauds each morning.  Throughout Lent we read the Exodus journey from the escape from Egypt to the Promised Land.  The Israelites are just escaping Pharaoh and the 10 plagues are over.  Moses and the people are in the desert wandering around. In this Sunday’s readings we hear about the call of Moses and how God’s presence was revealed in the “burning bush.” God cautioned Moses to tread lightly and reverently for he was on “holy ground” in God’s presence. The “burning bush” was God’s intense love for us. We also hear Jesus tell the parable of the fig tree. The owner wanted to cut it down, but the gardener pleaded to be given a chance to cultivate and fertilize it so that it might bear fruit. Continue Reading

During this Lenten season, how will you, by your actions, make Christ visible? Blessings.

Is our faith, our hope and our love great enough to allow for transformation? The three virtues of faith, hope and love pop up as themes through Lent. Abraham trusted God that a victim other than his son Isaac would be given, and God provided the lamb to be sacrificed. Paul’s letter, filled with hope inspires us, “I give no thought to what lies behind but push on to what is ahead.  My entire attention is on the finish line as I run towards the prize to which God calls me-life on high in Christ Jesus.” Continue Reading
