Monastic Worship Forum

By Sister Stefanie MacDonald

The first part of this summer – after retreat – has already been very busy. After the lovely Jubilee celebration last week, a bunch of us set off for Sacred Heart Monastery in Yankton, SD. We went for a conference on the liturgical change from Vatican II. My head is still spinning. 🙂

Besides great information, insights and discussion, the conference gave me a chance to reconnect with old friends: Sister Terri from Mother of God Monastery in Watertown, SD and Sister Maria Paula from Saint Joseph Monastery in Tulsa, Okla. (shown below). I met them both at NADI (a program for Novice Sisters) and BSWR (Benedictine Spirituality and Workshop Retreat for Sisters discerning final monastic profession).

That’s a real blessing of Benedictine life: creating and maintaining strong relationships with Sisters from other monasteries through our Federation as well as these (liturgical, NADI and BSWR, to name just a few) programs.

It was a fruitful and joyful experience. Now I’m home for just a few days before heading off on my next adventure. Final stop? Back here in July for my Final Monastic Profession! Stay tuned. 🙂
