“And behold a star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star.” (Mt 2:1-12)
The North Star, the star that we set our compasses by, gives us directions to wherever we want to go. As yesterday, when the Star guided the magi.
Since time began the Holy One has been radiating light toward earth in one continuous act of grace.
Rahner calls this grace God’s self-communication, an outpouring of the very being of God that not only permeates but maintains our life.
May 2012 be the year that each of us calls upon the Star and its light to provide us with energy and gracious power to save the hungry, the homeless, the unemployed, the downhearted … to be God’s light and presence in this new year.
Blessings to you.
Sister Catherine, thank you for this beautiful reminder. It strikes me as a “morning offering” one could pray every day. Shalom.
