God became one of us. Coming as a baby, Jesus was completely powerless and depended on us. During His life He revealed to us God the Father as Love.
Jesus quoted Isaiah, “The Lord God has anointed me; He has sent me to bring glad tidings to the lowly, to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captive and release to the prisoners … to comfort those who mourn.”
Jesus healed the lame, gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf, fed the hungry. He brought mercy, forgiveness, compassion, and reconciliation. In the words of Henri Nouwen, “ God does not want to be known except through servanthood and, therefore, servanthood is God’s self-revelation.”
He came depending on us and He left depending on us. We are to continue doing as Jesus did revealing the God who is Love through love and service to others.
