I had a strange experience while reading Matthew 8 last week. As Jesus said, “Follow me,” I had a sudden vision of Whoopi Goldberg dressed in full habit singing “Follow Me” in the movie Sister Act. This sure isn’t an image I want people to see when they think of Sisters! Talk about stereotypes.

Actually, some people think that to be a nun you have to wear a habit. Let me tell you, to be a nun you only have to want to follow Jesus.

During my Lectio on the passage, I focused on the need for following Jesus now. No waiting. No excuses. I focused on the need to follow with complete trust.

No matter who we are or what we are wearing, we are on a path to we don’t know where. We don’t know where we’re going. Sometimes we don’t even know IF we’re going. But with God’s grace, we can and will find our way through.
